Identity

Kastellorizo, the easternmost border of Greece, is a unique crossroads of cultures, ideas, and narratives. A place small in size but great in significance and symbolism, with a rich history and exceptional people. People who left this small rock and, as Greeks of the Diaspora, conquered seas and peaks around the world, always keeping alive the love and pride for their place of origin.

Just as this remote island is, for mother Greece, both emotionally close and geographically distant, so too do the Greeks of the Diaspora, as well as philhellenes around the world, remain "near and far" from their homeland. Written in English, the international language of today’s world, the name Near & Far for the new Kastellorizo International Music Festival comes to symbolize and express, in the most eloquent way, this invaluable connection.
